"A vision with no strategy will keep you dreaming"

This quote really resonated with me and made me think about what it means to truly have a dream or aspiration. Martin Luther King’s empowering ‘I Have a Dream’ speech displayed the importance of professing things into the atmosphere, and standing for the truth. Despite the fact that all the things he’d dreamt of did not come to pass in fullness in his lifetime, his intention and passion for ensuring that they did and that something changed for the better because of him, kept him motivated.

What motivates the dream is the most important part, whether it be justice, fame, representation or financial gain, your ‘why’ will produce your fruit and fuel every decision you make. Committing to something requires an uninterrupted, unwavering pursuit despite the odds, and that’s what separates the dreamers from the visionaries.

So why in OTHER NEWS ?

For me, the key to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but forming the new. It’s also important to set our minds on things above, things that will edify us and keep us hopeful. Life is about balance and there’s enough people and corporations shedding negative light on humanity so I thought I’d shine some positive light instead. One of my favourite parts of MLK’s speech is “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will be judged not by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character". My hope for in OTHER NEWS is that you’ll see elements of yourself in the subjects irrespective of age, gender or culture; that you’ll be inspired to live fearlessly and reignite your fire to be great; that you’ll say ‘why not’ when people ask ‘why you?’ and that you’ll change your mind about the possibilities of your future. in OTHER NEWS exists to continually introduce you to amazing people who have truly created their own ‘in other news’, and believe me, they are just like you and I. So that dream you have? Just start.
