Spiritual Growth and Personal Development with The Growth Box

In a world where we are busy figuring out what type of life we want to live, having a vision with no ‘why’ is simply a dream. A woman who knows her why is Opeyemi Sofoluke, Founder of The Growth Box, the UK’s first Christian subscription box designed to aid spiritual growth and personal development.

A devoted Christian and budding entrepreneur, Opeyemi has a heart for the people and purpose. She decided that it was time to fuse her academia with her passion and create something with a positive impact..

The premise of The Growth Box stemmed from Opeyemi’s desire to want to do good; she tells us “a lot of people want to do good but just don’t know how to”. The Growth Box has dual purpose as it enables subscribers to grow in more than one area, "it gives people access to something that helps them grow spiritually and personally, and then has a charitable element to enable them to give back. I wanted something that was two-fold and a subscription box was that thing”.

It was important for Opeyemi to create something of substance and the wellbeing of her subscribers is pivotal; “I pray for my subscribers because this business is about people, I want whatever I send them to impact their lives.”

Spiritual and personal growth go hand in hand, and inasmuch as a purposeful life sounds desirable, the journey towards that is not for the fainthearted. We asked Opeyemi to share why she thinks not everyone reaches their full potential, and her rationale is that “a lot of people know what they want to do, but they don’t know why they want to do it. For me, it always goes back to purpose and the only way you will know your purpose as a Christian is by seeking God’s face.”

For Opeyemi, her 'why' solely comes from her faith as she tells us that her faith and her life are not separate; “for me, it’s a lifestyle choice. With God, it’s an everyday conversation and although my business is now a big part of my life, my faith is why I do what I do, it's what gives me the strength.”

Opeyemi is passionate about her faith and reverences the omniscience of the God she serves. The Growth Box not only introduces subscribers to new materials to use to aid their growth, but the business process has also allowed her to recognise how much more of herself she is yet to discover. “The Bible says 'You will seek me and you will find me, if you seek me with your whole heart’ (Jeremiah 29:13), and it also says ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3). Growth areas for me include coming out of my comfort zone and doing more public speaking, my husband always encourages me in that”.

In light of these scriptures, Opeyemi believes that God has given everyone a gift and our job is to identify why we’ve been given those gifts and how they can be used to bless others; she likens this endeavour to baking a cake, “only the baker knows why they are putting each ingredient in the cake because each one serves a purpose, and it’s the same with us, God is the baker and we are the cake.”

With food on the brain, a percentage of the proceeds of every Growth Box purchase goes to UK Charity, Feed the Hungry. The manifesto of this charity is one that married well with the mission for her business; “Feed The Hungry UK is about feeding the hungry, empowering the church worldwide and sharing the hope that comes through Jesus Christ.  This concept was an inspiration for The Growth Box – when people subscribe they are being fed spiritually as well feeding others.”

In feeding others both spiritually and physically, Opeyemi also makes time to be spiritually fed by God too,“I recognise that I live for God, and because of the Growth Box, I’m constantly praying for God’s leading even on what I should post on social media!”

Spending time with God is a priority for Opeyemi and because of this, she is undoubtedly a woman of poise, calm, and determination. She is confident that God has her back no matter what she faces, “whether it’s a challenge or triumph, I know that God’s hand is on my life. I stand firmly on Psalms 46:5, ‘God is within her, she will not fail’”.

Opeyemi is hosting her first event for The Growth Box this coming Saturday 1st July 2017 entitled God, Growth & Goals to mark 6 months through the year, and encourage attendees to review those three areas. Please support and come along! Tickets can be purchased here
