“The goal for SevenSix Agency has always been clear - inclusive campaigns that inspire consumers, making representation the norm” - Charlotte Williams, Founder of SevenSix Agency

Founded by Influencer and Marketer Charlotte Williams in 2019 as an antidote to the lack of diversity in advertising, SevenSix Agency has gone from strength to strength in its first year, working with brands such as Badoo, Label/Mix, The Wing, and Bumble, and growing to a team of four women of colour specialising in social media and influencer marketing. In this next phase of the business development, SevenSix have launched a CrowdFunder campaign, in a bid to raise £25,000 to support their growth into 2021.

Driven by statistics that showed over 95% of chief executives, managing directors and chairpeople in the UK are white men (which goes some way to explaining why more than 4 in 10 black people feel that ads do not recognise their culture), SevenSix Agency delivers diversity-first campaigns and champions inclusivity and representation within the industry.

After launching the SevenSix Influencer Network in May of 2020, which supports brands and influencers in diversifying their campaigns, the next steps for SevenSix involve bringing their part-time team into full-time roles, and creating an office hub, which will not only provide a workspace for staff, but also for the BAME creatives that they manage and represent.

“We can continue to fight the tide of inequality and spark real change”

Seeking diverse content creators is currently on the agenda for many marketers after the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has helped the company to grow and work with a greater variety of brands, however SevenSix are keen to ensure that this enthusiasm for representation continues to develop, fostering a sustained change in attitudes towards working with black and brown creatives.

Charlotte and her team work to educate brands and companies on the importance of diverse campaigns and teams by offering workshops and keynote presentations on the subject, and as a thank you for contributing, donations over £250, £500 and £1,000 to the CrowdFunder will be offered Social Media Audits, Keynote presentations and Inclusive Marketing Workshops respectively; something that the SevenSix Agency team believes will make an informative contribution to any company’s Black History Month calendar.

According to Founder, Charlotte Williams, “I started the agency on my own after I became frustrated with the lack of diversity in marketing, and named it after the Race Relations Act of 1976, which made racial discrimination unlawful in employment. Today, I’m so proud of how far we’ve come, and I know that with this funding, we can continue to fight the tide of inequality and spark real change.”
